from the Center for International Education
at the University of Massachusetts at Am-
herst, where she directed programs in
American culture and language for inter-
national graduate students and scholars,
trained U.S. business people to work more
effectively abroad, and developed and taught
graduate-level writing courses for interna-
tional and U.S. students. She is currently a
lecturer at the University of Michigan, where
she teaches composition and community
